Wired Certification Provides an Effective Tool to Address Growing Reliance on Strong Tech Capabilities

New York, NY – September 28, 2015 – Nine notable buildings in Chicago, including City Hall and the Chicago Board of Trade Building, have achieved Wired Certification, the international standard developed by WiredScore that distinguishes best-in-class Internet connectivity in office buildings. The expansion of Wired Certification in Chicago and across the nation underscores the growing reliance of fast, reliable Internet in today’s competitive business market.

“When operating in a global economic hub such as Chicago, local businesses demand strong connectivity to thrive,” said Arie Barendrecht, CEO and co-founder of WiredScore. “Wired Certification provides a simple tool that enables tenants to easily identify commercial buildings with superior tech infrastructure. When buildings are better connected, businesses can operate productively, compete globally, and grow our economy.”

Many Chicago landmarks are among the buildings that have achieved Wired Certification, including City Hall and 1 South Wacker, which were awarded Gold ratings, and the Chicago Board of Trade Building, which received a coveted Platinum certification. Buildings receive Wired Certification by meeting a rigorous set of standards developed by WiredScore in conjunction with the top minds from industry leaders such as Google and Cisco.

“We are honored that 150 N. Riverside Plaza is the first Wired Certified Platinum property in Chicago,” said Anthony Scacco, executive vice president at Riverside Investment & Development. “Our firm’s fundamental objective is to offer properties that deliver best-in-class efficiencies, infrastructure, and amenities. We applaud WiredScore's efforts in championing connectivity and technological advancement, as this will be a driving force in ensuring Chicago has a diverse, dynamic, and robust economy now and into the future.”

“We are proud of our commitment to connectivity, as it is a vital part of providing our tenants with premier office space,” said Sara Shank, head of portfolio management at Beacon Capital Partners, which owns two of the first buildings in Chicago to be Wired Certified. “Wired Certification is an element of the leading technology and innovation that adds value to our office space while ensuring a productive, efficient environment for our tenants. Beacon is the first property owner to partner with WiredScore on a national level with approximately 90 percent of our buildings rated Silver, and several properties, including one in Chicago, earning a Gold rating or above.”
